Sylvain Ledda propose ici une étude à la fois rigoureuse et claire d'Hernani et de Ruy Blas. Sens du romanesque, portée symbolique des situations, lyrisme épique de l'écriture, souffle du dialogue, force de la théâtralité sont autant de pistes que propose l'auteur pour analyser ces œuvres dans toute leur complexité. Au-delà des étudiants préparant l'agrégation, cet ouvrage intéressera tous les fervents de Victor Hugo et tous les amateurs de théâtre romantique.
